Game and character(s): Final Fantasy IX

Year: 2000

Region: Japan

Brand: Squaresoft, DigiCube

Source: Retail

Size: 12.5cm high x 14cm wide x 2.5cm deep

Notes: A really special 4 disc soundtrack that features a total of 110 tracks from Final Fantasy IX. The CD case itself is unusual, it’s solid off white plastic, with the characters and soundtrack title ‘engraved’ into the front. Sheet music for Melodies of Life is included, as well as five delicate sheets of Yoshitaka Amano artwork held together with an obi featuring the Final Fantasy IX logo on the front. The booklet not only includes the track list but the lyrics to Melodies of Life in both English and Japanese, a message from the composer Nobuo Uematsu and details about Emiko Shiratori (vocalist for both the Japanese and English versions of Melodies of Life). There is another more widely available version of this soundtrack, it came with a sleeve to protect the case, and the side of the case you see when it’s inside the sleeve has the title and details of the soundtrack; whereas this edition has a solid white case and nothing is printed onto it, nor can you see anything inside
