Chocobo Dome Mascot Moogle Riding a Chocobo

Posted on Aug 4, 2014 by in Chocobo Series, Chocobo's Dungeon, Chocobos, Dome Mascots, Moogles | 3 comments

Game and character(s): Chocobo’s Dungeon 2 (Chocobo no Fushigina Dungeon 2 – Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon 2), Mog (Mogri) and Chocobo

Year: 1999

Region: Japan

Brand: Squaresoft

Source: N/A

Size: 7cm high (dome mascot)

Notes: This is a very rare item that is limited to 3,000 pieces. There is also a Christmas Santa Dome Mascot to complete the set, but I found the moogle and chocobo version to be the harder of the two to find. Originally sold in Japan, I am unsure of its origins but the Chocobo Dome Mascots are very sought after. There is a piece of official artwork which resembles this exact statue, of course from Chocobo’s Dungeon 2 (see image below, taken from the Post Card Book). The Moogle Riding a Chocobo version was made either with or without a serial number, though I am unsure of numbers, it’s possible half had a serial and half without. My dome figure does not have a serial number, but the version with a serial number has an additional log on the figure where the serial plate sits on; on the front of the box, bottom right above the main text, there’s smaller lettering which  in Japanese loosely says serial number, but on the version without a serial number the small text and the log are not included. Both this and Christmas Santa Dome Mascot are favourites in my collection

Rarity (1-5): 5

  1. Ah, I’m super jealous. Chocobo’s Dungeon 2 is one of my favorite games. Shame you couldn’t get one with the log. Been trying to find out whether the log is detachable and people have just been losing them, or whether square just issued some without a log.

Luckily I was able to find a Christmas Chocobo Dome a few weeks ago for just $50!

    Great site by the way.

    • Thank you for your comment!

At first I was unsure about the differences as well, and if I didn’t notice the additional Japanese text on the box of the one with the log, I would have thought the log was missing on some figures too. The question is, how many were made with a serial number and how many without? There’s very little info about them and either version is hard to find. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for one with the log, but I am quite happy to have the one I have at least.

$50 is such a great price for the Santa Chocobo – that’s an amazing bargain, you’re very lucky! I hope you can get the moogle riding a chocobo too, it’s a wonderful item and the two domes look great together as a set!

    • Wow, $50! Where did you find that?
